Kenn Lowy is an American musician and songwriter known for his eclectic style and his extensive use of the ebow and various tapping instruments including the Warr Guitar, Touchguitar U8 and a custom built Hanewinckel guitar designed for tapping and regular guitar playing. He started playing piano when he was 7 years old. He has been active in the music scene for over 40 years, with his first EP, "A Move to the Right," released in 1982 under the name "wrinklemuzik," is considered a synth-pop collector's item.
He has composed and performed music to several films including "OXD" by Craig Lowy and "The Cabinet of Caligari." performed live at the Brooklyn Heights Cinema.
Throughout his career, kenn has released several albums, including "Safe", "Sleep Deprivation", "The Frozen Tundra" (2021), "Life Comes Rolling In with the Fog" (2008) and "Monster" (2023).
His music is available on most streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify, Bandcamp and YouTube where listeners can explore his discography.
In addition to his music career, Lowy is known for his involvement in the arts community. He owned and operated the historic Brooklyn Heights Cinema in Brooklyn, New York, contributing to the local cultural scene.
As a former marathon swimmer, he has completed the Swim Around Manhattan (28 miles), the Swim Around Key West (12 miles) and the Gertrude Erdely Swim from lower Manhattan to Sandy Hook NJ (17 miles).
Currently, Kenn Lowy resides in Valencia, Spain, where he continues to create and share music. His work is characterized by a willingness to explore diverse musical directions, often eschewing traditional song structures in favor of more experimental compositions.
